Biodiesel Production and Distribution Grant Program

The Biodiesel Production and Distribution Grant Program is a funding opportunity available to qualified Connecticut biodiesel producers and/or distributors looking to advance and strengthen their business capabilities within the Connecticut supply chain. A total of $2.5 million has been made available by the State of Connecticut to support the program and provide grants for the production of biodiesel and the construction and/or modification of biodiesel production, storage, and distribution facilities. Funds will be administered by CCAT with funding provided by the Department of Economic and Community Development from December 1, 2007 to December 31, 2010.

The Program was developed in order to increase economic growth opportunities for Connecticut's clean energy sector and promote a greater use of biodiesel; advance technological innovation in biodiesel; increase public confidence, support and awareness for biodiesel; support the development of biodiesel production and distribution equipment and facilities; and reduce dependence on fossil fuel consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions.

The Biodiesel Production and Distribution Grant Program offers grants for the following:

  1. Biodiesel Production Facility Grant: to assist with purchasing equipment or constructing, modifying or retrofitting biodiesel production facilities. Grants are limited to $3 million

          (Not currently accepting applications)

  1. Biodiesel Production Grant: the production of biodiesel based on the number of gallons of biodiesel produced:

    • First five million gallons x $.30 per gallon = $1.5 M;
    • Second five million gallons x $.20 per gallon = $1.0 M; and
    • Third five million gallons x $.10 per gallon.

Please note that per Public Act 10-64, the following schedule of funding limitations may apply:

·         If total program funding < $200,000 = $.20 per gallon regardless of the number of gallons produced by the applicant; and

·         If total program funding < $100,000 = $.10 per gallon regardless of the number of gallons produced by the applicant.

Complete biodiesel production grant applications may be filed no later than December 31, 2010. An application may be filed for the month of December, but the complete application must be received by CCAT not later than December 31, 2010.

Complete applications must be filed no later than 5:00 pm EST of the 15th of the month after the month for which the grant is sought.  If the 15th is a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, then applications are due by 5:00 pm EST the following business day
